Ethanol is a quickly evaporating liquid and is used as a carrier substance for perfume compositions and personal hygiene / body care products. The solubility strength of essential oils is put to use in many sprays, deodorants, face and aftershaves. Ethyl alcohol can also be used as a preserving agent due to its disinfectant properties. Denaturant is added to ethanol in order to make it unpalatable for humans to drink. In this way ethanol can be processed exempt from spirit tax.
